Bonneville County is now accepting applications for the following position:

Position: Plat Tech

Starting Salary: Pay Grade 8 - starting salary $13.8795

Work Hours: 40 hours a week

Closing Date: Applications accepted until position is filled.


Performs a variety of entry level clerical and routine technical duties as needed to expedite the updating and maintenance of county property related documents, records, maps and plats.


Works under the general supervision of the Plat/Mapping Supervisor.




Reviews property related documents to verify readiness for data entry and platting verifies accuracy and completeness; processes deeds, escrow contracts, divorce decrees, probates, trustee deeds and other legal documents influencing property ownership or description; prepares documents to reflect changes in property ownership and posts the same to Assessor's records; retrieves information from property tax information system; processes forms as needed to inform Valuations Technician, treasurer, clerk, and other interested parties of changes on plat books for ownership and legal description.

Maintains property companion sheets to show property histories.

Assists the general public to access, review and make copies of property documents, plats and maps; collects fees for service and issues receipts.

Performs general computer inquiry as needed to research ownership changes, new parcels; etc.; operates software to determine closure and area.

Learn how to draw and scale metes and bounds, property splits, assist Plat Tech or Plat/Mapping Supervisor with typing plats, splits, and combinations when needed.

Performs document searches to resolve problems in property descriptions, ownership, etc. Contact various entities to remedy discrepancies or problems with property descriptions.

Performs related duties as required.


  1. Education and Experience:

A. Graduation from high school;


B. One (1) year of job related training or education;


C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of general office management practice; data entry and computer terminal operations; basic mathematics related to percentages and fractions.

Ability to read and understand legal documents, read and understand blue prints, (surveys, plats) perform complex mathematical computations; operate calculators and standard office equipment; work independently on specific assignments; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with supervisors and fellow employees.

  1. Special Qualifications:

Must pass Appraisal Course 1 and Basic Mapping

Basic keyboarding skill

Ability to operate four function calculator

  1. Work Environment:

Incumbents of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain, but do involve walking, standing, stooping, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Rapid work speed required to perform keyboard operations. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking. Some creative problem solving.
